National Library holds the definitve sources of all current legislation, amended as in force.
Royal Warrants
Royal Warrants are the method by which the sovereign signifies assent. They are in fact an order to promulgate one of four types of legislation: an Act of Parliament, an Act of the Sovereign, a Letter Patent or a Treaty.
Act of Parliament
These are acts introduced by members not in HM Government, or covering such matters as are not featured in the legislative programme. They are essentially Private Members Bills.
Act of the Sovereign
These are acts intoduced by HM Government as part of the legislative programme.
Letters Patent
These are letters issued by the Sovereign.
Treaties
These are agreements with other countries.
